LGD-4033 (Ligandrol) at a glance
A fast read for beginners, with evidence strength, route context, safety depth, and community activity surfaced before the deeper sections.
LGD-4033 (Ligandrol, VK5211) is a non-steroidal selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) developed by Ligand Pharmaceuticals and acquired by Viking Therapeutics. It was designed to replicate the anabolic effects of testosterone on muscle and bone tissue while minimizing androgenic side effects in other tissues such as the prostate and skin.
In Phase I clinical trials, LGD-4033 produced significant increases in lean body mass at doses as low as 1mg/day with a favorable safety profile. At higher doses used by the fitness community (5-10mg), effects are substantially greater, though accompanied by meaningful testosterone suppression requiring post-cycle therapy.
LGD-4033 remains an investigational drug - it has not received FDA approval for any indication, though it was in Phase II trials for hip fracture rehabilitation. It is banned by WADA and all major sports governing bodies. Despite its unapproved status, it has become one of the most widely used performance-enhancing compounds in recreational bodybuilding.
